Artist Hummel is at it again for the 75th Anniversary of the 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast with a new painting of "The Battle At Grovers Mill" Copyright 2013

This painting is framed in actual refurbished vintage wood planks from the mill featured in the painting and was on tour at War of the Worlds anniversary events across New Jersey.
A live performed version of the 1938 War of the Worlds radio broadcast production can be seen or booked by the amazing Raconteur Radio theater.
Thanks to the Princeton Public Library, West Windsor Library, Mr. Dawson Director of Raconteur Radio a live performed radio drama troupe for inviting me to his Hamilton Theater War of the Worlds performance, Princeton University and the Mechanical Engineering department at the observatory for inviting me to exhibit this new painting.

The attack by Martians on the Observatory is in the works! Call 609-571-220 for a behind the scenes tour and held in an historic building that was once owned by the Grovers Mill Brothers. See their 1915 hand pulled elevator they installed that still operates!

Artist Robert Hummel, a former artist with the Macy's parade studio in the 1990s creates luminous paintings in and around Princeton New Jersey www.PrincetonArtImpressions.com . Grovers Mill not far down the road form the beautiful University town was made famous in 1938 when Orson Welles and the "Mercury Theater On The Air" chose this innocent farming town as its subject for a Martian landing in an adapted version of the H G Wells classic WAR OF THE WORLDS.
Turn up the volume and have a listen as musician extraordinaire Kip Rosser performs on a Theramin instrument to create this unique eerie Martian music that goes so well with Artist Hummel's painting.

Never hear the original broadcast? Here is your chance. Sit back relax, close your eyes, listen and imagine what you would have done on that 1938 Halloween eve. Grovers Mill New Jersey under attack by creatures from Mars, with tripod legs, machine like, tentacles and ray beams setting everything and anyone on fire. Don't ever miss a chance to hear a live reenactment by radio clubs such as those annually at the Grovers Mill Coffee House in West Windsor NJ, just down the road from were the ficticious Martians were said to have have first landed. Visit the nearby Grovers Mill barn and old mill down the road or the Van Nest Park to see the broadcast memorial.

"THE NIGHT THAT PANICKED AMERICA"
JUST ONE OF SEVERAL FILMS TELLING THE STORY OF THE HALLOWEEN EVE NIGHT IN 1938 THAT STRUCK PANIC ON FOLKS ACROSS THE NATION.
A FAMILY FRIEND TELLS ME OF A RELATIVE WHO LISTENED THAT NIGHT AND RAN TO HIDE IN A NEARBY COAL MINE IN SHAMOKIN PENNSYLVANA. BELIEVE IT OR NOT.... WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE BACK THEN WHEN ANYTHING SEEMED POSSIBLE?.
Another classic movie about the Orsen Welles and the War of the Worlds radio broadcast depicting the Grovers Mill Martian invasion. It's an older version as the one above and a favorite called "The Night America Trembled".
